Of course hindsight is always 20/20 but believe me, If I see someone beating a toddler in a savage way, rest assured I’ll somehow get them to stop…wether it means with my own hands, with a tire iron or with firepower…I wouldnt be able to live with myself knowing I possibly could have done more to save an innocent victims life. Indifference is almost just as bad in my opinion.

I picked mine up 2 weekends ago but I had only just now gotten around to devoting any free time to it and having played long enough to form a decent opinion on it I can say that it’s fucking amazing…however, I don’t think young kids should go anywhere near it. Where all the other games up till this point were sort of cartoony…this shit is damn near reality. It’s really scary how life-like it is.

I found myself abandoning actually playing the storyline of the game and just devoted as much time as possible to shooting up the hospital in the first city. I Blockaded the enterance with cars so noone could easily get in or out. I eagerly killed everyone inside and held off the cops for damn near two full human hours before I realized it was getting late in the day and turned it off…I then started to think about the shit over and over again about how realistic it all felt…the interior of the hospital was sprayed with blood, there was literally piles of bodies laying around, so many dead cops that the automatic doors on the hospital couldn’t close.

As a stark contrast to the violence on the screen I got up and walked into my 4 month old sons room and looked at him as he slept ( I know this sounds heavy handed but I really did this…), I found the comparison of my son sleeping peacefully while Im in the next room killing innocents in the “virtual world” sort of puzzling and humerous in a very tragic black comedy sort of way. Ha.

 I’m pretty desensitized to EVERYTHING, have been for many years now but this paticular game has gotten me thinking for the first time that media and entertainment can acutally shape how you think. If it is impacting me like this…how is it effecting the bullied 11 year old with no friends down the street?

I can defenitely see some “Columbine-esque” crime in the works using some sort of ”GTA IV trained me to kill” defense. Write that down cause it’s gonna happen.

So like we already knew, gas prices aren’t going down anytime soon…if ever. Expect 4.00$ to be the new standard, if not 5.00$ by this time next year. How the fuck do we expect Saudi Arabia to up oil production if we arent doing anything on our own to reduce our dependence on foreign oil?

Now… moving on to something that I have been holding in for roughly 2 years now and just have to get off my chest.

I FUCKING HATE THIS RISE IN TRENDY *Poetic/Political/Emo/Indie* HIP-HOP SHIT AS OF LATE.

Now that Metalcore/HXC’s day in the sun is fading and name dropping your favorite metal bands doesnt get you as many friend requests on myspace as it used to, the feaux-emo scenester hipster fucks have traded in their Terror and Throwdown albums for Aesop Rock and Sage Francis Lp’s.

It was tolerable at first, when I simply could just ignore the nerd influx permeating hip-hop culture…but now…it’s everywhere. The same douchebag who swears that “Vampire Weekend” is a good band is telling you in the same breathe  Slug is the greatest emcee he’s ever heard…not to mention MTV is promoting the shit between episodes of fuckin’ Tila Tequila and Elimidate or whatever the fuck kind of shit they are brainwashing dumb blonde sorrority girls with these days.

Don’t misunderstand…I enjoy some of this stuff myself ( Cage is still one of my favorites and I still enjoy Def Jux), but I also have a thorough understanding of the genre. I owned 36 chambers back in 94′. I bought “6 feet deep” when it dropped. My favorite group in 5th grade was EPMD because an older kid named Omar on my bus used to let me listen to “Strictly Business” on the way to and from school. I first heard MF DOOM on “ace in the Hole” from 3rd Bases ”Derelicts of a Dialect” when he was Zevlove X…all of this before the file sharing/wikipedia age.  So when I tell you Ghostface is my favorite emcee…you can rest assured that I mean it, not because I am dropping the name to somehow boost my hipster scene cred.

Not every white nerd with ex-girl hangups and poor understanding of the political process can rock a mic and lace a beat, and those Atmosphere and Lil Wayne (This is a diff. subject all by itself) cd’s in your car don’t make you a hip-hop fan.

Ok, this here is going to be my feeble attempt at this new fangled “blogging” thing that all these slick little hipsters are doing nowaday. Apparently when one settles down and is no longer constantly checking “myspace”, and finishes school so “facebook” is no longer a trendy conversation piece to toss about at the local house party, the next logical step is to create a “Real Blog”…hence this.

It has been a long time since I have even remotely socialized with damn near anyone other than immediate family. Many of the few of you who might actually take the time to look at this are probably thinking that I am on some “holier than thou” steez or that I have just dropped my friends like some dumb cheerleader who bounces from click to click or some such shit. I can assure you now that that is and never will be the case.  

Cody is on the grind. I have been working 40+ hours nonstop and being superdad to a 5 year old and a 4 month old in between time. Time is leaving me. I wake up, throw on some shit and go to the office, come home and pay bills and spend what little time that might happen to be left over with my loved ones. (I suggest everyone make a special effort themselves to do the latter, cause time is leaving all of you faster than you would liek to admit.) Thats where it’s at right now.

Back to this thing here: I’m gonna try to update this daily. My internet access is limited to when I’m at work on breaks, so it gives me a chance to do this thing at least semi-rgularly. So if you feel like dropping in and seeing whats going on with me or the world around me, do so. Expect cynical social commentary, self-evalution, things that currently have my interest. etc.
